The Role

Alveo (formerly known as Asset Control) has a very strong reputation within financial data management and supports a global client base of the world’s leading financial institutions.

Alveo is searching for a Senior Software Engineer with knowledge of Java and Scala. In this position you are responsible for creating/maintaining middle tier, desktop and web-based applications. The ideal candidate would also have interest in NoSQL (Cassandra) databases and Spark. We adopt Agile (SCRUM) Software development methodologies.

Key Responsibilities

In this role you will be responsible for:

  • Contributing to designing, estimation, implementation, test and technical documentation of new features and components, ensuring compliance with Alveo standards and guidelines
  • Delivering high-quality tested code with Scala
  • Contributing to the architectural design of the system components
  • Providing support on production issues as part of L3 support and providing fixes as required
  • Reporting to the engineering manager

    • Git
    • Bamboo
    • Confluence
    • Jira
    • Maven
    • Sonar

Required skills:

  • Knowledge of the Java/Scala programming language is required
  • Knowledge of Scala programming language is highly beneficial
  • Knowledge and working experience with object-oriented design and design patterns is beneficial
  • Understanding of full product development life cycle
  • Working experience in an Agile development environment is highly beneficial
  • Feeling comfortable working with a large established code base
  • Being able to provide third-level product support
  • The ability to express innovative ideas to improve the product

Qualifications and Training

For this position you require:

  • To be educated to degree standard ideally in computer sciences (Bachelor IT e.g.) or similar appropriate education/experience
