How long have you been at Alveo?

I’m fairly new to Alveo – I joined in November 2021 but it feels like I’ve been here much longer with the number of projects I’ve been able to work on!

What does your role involve?

I support our Sales team in the client engagement process by demonstrating to potential clients how our data and analytics products can help them to add value to their operations. This includes responding to RFI and RFPs and providing real time demonstrations.

What does a typical day look like for you?

Each day is pretty different but generally I spend a lot of time working closely with potential customers. This could be by delivering product demonstrations, facilitating workshops to build out use cases, or chairing early stage calls to get an in depth understanding of their requirements.

I also spend time working with our Product Management team. They help me to understand the art of the possible and I help them to understand what our customers want from our products now and in the future – it’s a great partnership.

What do you enjoy the most about your role?

I really like solving problems which I get to do for our customers all the time in my role.

What sorts of challenges to do you face in your role?

In any sort of sales role, you have to be able to condense your pitch, so it’s always a challenge to decide how to structure the limited time you have to make the biggest impact and leave a lasting impression. It’s a skill I’ve honed over the years but something you can always improve.

How would you describe your team?

It’s very collaborative. I get to work with great people who I can bounce ideas off and learn from, on top of just being great people who I enjoy working with. Our team is also very international and I enjoy working with such a diverse mix of people.

How long have you been at Alveo?

It’ll be 5 years, this year!

What does your role involve?

I’m a Consultant in the Managed Services Team, I work on client projects, help in migrating their on-prem implementation to cloud further assisting them in getting the most from our product suite.

What has your Alveo journey been like so far?

I joined the Professional Services Team as an Associate straight after completing my Masters in Information Systems. I spent 1.5 years working in the Professional Services Team before getting the opportunity to help build our Managed Services offering which was when I discovered my love for Cloud!

What has been the best thing about working at Alveo?

For me it has been the opportunity to get hands on professional experience in Cloud technology. It wasn’t until I worked on the Managed Service proof of concept that I knew I had a passion for Cloud and since then I have really enjoyed the opportunity to work on various projects. It’s the sort of experience that everyone wants but is hard to find.

How would you describe the people at Alveo?

I work on client projects so most of my day-to-day contact is with my client counterparts, but I always know that my Alveo colleagues are there for support when needed. We have a lot of people who have years of expertise and are always willing to help. Sometimes it’s like speaking to human encyclopaedias – that’s how much they know!

What sort of person would be a great fit for Alveo?

I would say that people who like to have variety in their roles is important. We’re not a huge company so sometimes we have to be flexible and wear more than one hat. For me this has been great and has meant that I have been able to develop a lot personally and professionally, as well as discovering my professional passion.

How long have you been at Alveo?

Five and a half years. When I started in 2016, I was based in our London office but had the opportunity to move to Amsterdam with Alveo in 2018.

What does your role involve?

I’m a Senior Product Manager at Alveo. My role is to understand our customers’ needs and examine the external market to identify products or product features which will add value to our customer.

What do you like most about your role?

I like the diversity of the role. I sit at the interface of business, engineering and design and have to be able to articulate needs and concepts in different ways to different stakeholders which almost requires me to have to speak different languages!

What does a typical day look like for you?

My days usually start with “stand up” meetings where the whole product development team gets together to give status updates and discuss priorities. Typically, this includes representatives from the engineering, testing, UI and product management teams. I have one stand up per product that I work on.

I also spend a lot of time on activities related to managing and prioritising the backlog of product features. I work closely with the customer on this to make sure we’re consistently building fit-for-purpose products that add value.

What makes doing your job at Alveo special?

I would say the learning opportunity. All of our products are linked in some way which means whilst getting to know one, you have exposure to others and can benefit from the associated learning, versus working on isolated products or within just one team.

I think that is probably true of other areas of Alveo too. For example, I know front end engineers who have decided to try their hand at some back end engineering after having exposure through their projects. It’s a really great learning culture.

Head of Customer Support, International

How long have you been at Alveo?

I’ve been here for almost a year now. It’ll be exactly one year next week.

What does your role involve?

I manage the customer support team for Europe and Asia. That’s the team that helps customers resolve any issues and queries they have with our products and helps customers to get the most from our service.

What do you like most about your role?

There are two main things: being able to solve problems and being able to influence change. Most of the work my team does involves helping customers to solve some sort of problem and our products help customers to solve problems in general. In my role, I also have lots of opportunities to think of better ways of working, both internally and for our clients which really motivates me.

What attracted you to working for Alveo?

I was already working in the fintech industry and was aware of Alveo generally so initially that peaked my interest, but ultimately it was the role itself which really stood out to me. I had been working as a professional and managed service consultant for a while but when I met with the leadership team at Alveo, they suggested the Head of Customer Support role which was really exciting because I would be able use the skills I had developed as a consultant in a new and challenging way.

What do you enjoy most about working at Alveo?

For me it’s the team. The Customer Support Team in particular. We’re like a family – we all have our quirks and unique qualities, but we are all one unit working together to solve problems.

I also like the autonomy I have in my role. The Leadership Team are really approachable and I’m given the space and trust to do my work and manage the team in the way I feel will make us most successful. That is also very motivating.

What does your role involve?

I lead the QA team which is responsible for testing our software before it’s released to make sure we maintain the high quality products our customers expect.

What does a typical day look like for you?

I spend a lot time coaching and mentoring my team and providing support on their product testing project. I also still like to keep on top of my own testing skills and work on a number of products as Lead QA Engineer.

What do you enjoy the most about your role?

I like the technical aspects of my role as I’m an engineer at my core but I probably enjoy my role as a manager most. I like seeing people in my team grow and develop. I find that really rewarding.

How would you describe the people that you work with?

We’re all quite different – we’re from all around the world and all have different cultural and professional backgrounds but I would say that the things we have in common are that we’re all curious and collaborative and enjoy working at pace. We also all have a passion for tech which makes for a great learning environment.
